The State Council Executive Meeting deployed relevant work to implement the "Big Food Concept" and Fushine Pharmaceuticals' microbial protein implemented diversified food supply!
On August 30th, Li Qiang presided over an executive meeting of the State Council to deploy work related to the "Big Food" concept. The meeting noted that establishing a "Big Agriculture" and "Big Food" perspective and building a diversified food supply system are important measures to ensure national food security and build a strong agricultural nation. It is necessary to consolidate the supply base of grain and important agricultural products, firmly protect arable land and ecological red lines, expand direct and indirect sources of food, and improve food quality and safety. It is also necessary to strengthen modern agricultural scientific and technological innovation, focusing on breaking through bottlenecks in varieties, technologies, facilities, and equipment, extending the industrial chain, and increasing the added value of food development.



The practical role of synthetic biology in promoting a comprehensive food perspective is becoming increasingly prominent! Fushine Pharmaceuticals, recognizing the importance of a stable and reliable source of high-quality, healthy protein for national health and food security, proactively expanded its microbial protein business into alternative protein in 2023. Its microbial protein products, derived from filamentous fungal proteins, are high in protein and dietary fiber, low in sugar, fat, and cholesterol, and require no antibiotics during fermentation, making them compatible with modern, healthy diets.


As we all know, protein accounts for 16-20% of human body weight and is an essential "building block" for the human body. Fushine Pharmaceuticals has developed a new production strain, Fusarium brevicaulis, with completely independent intellectual property rights. On August 23, 2024, the company received a notice of acceptance from the State Intellectual Property Office. Fushine has previously applied for patents for Fusarium brevicaulis in nine countries and regions, including China.
The China Light Industry Federation's appraisal opinion on the company's "Key Technologies and Industrial Applications for Producing Microbial Proteins through Fermentation with Fusarium brevis" project believes that the overall technology of the project has reached the international advanced level, among which the technology for selecting and breeding microbial strains for producing high-quality protein has reached the international leading level, and it recommends increasing its promotion and application.



As early as December 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping spoke at the Central Rural Work Conference about the need to develop food resources in an all-round and multi-faceted manner, by demanding calories and protein from cultivated land, grasslands, forests, oceans, plants, animals and microorganisms.
Fushine Pharmaceuticals actively practices the "Big Food" concept, pioneering the use of synthetic biology technologies to "derive calories and protein from microorganisms." To date, Fushine Pharmaceuticals has become the first company in China to achieve ton-scale industrialization of filamentous fungal protein, with an annual production capacity of 1,200 tons. The company is also currently constructing a 200,000-ton annual microbial protein and resource comprehensive utilization project (Phase I). Upon completion, the project will have an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of microbial protein and 50,000 tons of amino acid water-soluble fertilizer.
