Fushine Pharmaceuticals participated in the 5th National Food Biotechnology Conference and gave a report

The 5th National Food Biotechnology Conference was held in Shanghai from October 25 to 27, 2024. Sponsored by the Chinese Society for Bioengineering and the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology, the conference focused on "Intelligent Biomanufacturing Empowers New Productivity in the Food Industry." The conference brought together four academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, including Xie Jianping, Chen Jian, and Xie Mingyong, and Zhang Lixin, an academician of the European Academy of Sciences. Over 90 experts presented special reports, along with representatives from industry and investment funds, totaling over 600 attendees.



Academician Chen Jian: Shaping a new way of food production in the future



At the conference, Academician Chen Jian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, special consultant of the bio-fermentation and future food industry chain, and director of the Technical Committee of the Chinese Institute of Bio-fermentation and Future Food Industry, gave a detailed introduction to "Future Food and Biomanufacturing", pointing out the positioning goals and vision of China's future food technology, that is, to have overall development advantages, seize the commanding heights, shape new ways of food production in the future, manufacture new models, new processing directions and new prevention and control systems, and replace traditional food manufacturing methods with high quality.

In recent years, terms like "diversified food supply system" and "big food concept" have frequently appeared in government reports. General Secretary Xi Jinping has pointed out that food biotechnology is a new engine driving innovation and rapid development in the food industry and a key tool for accelerating the development and formation of new high-quality productivity in the food industry. Previously, the General Office of the State Council issued the "Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Practicing the Big Food Concept and Building a Diversified Food Supply System," which clearly outlined the direction and recommendations: "cultivate strategic emerging bio-industries, encourage and support the development of new food products, expand agricultural development space with modern agricultural technology and equipment, and develop a rich and diverse range of food varieties," "cultivate and develop bio-agriculture, explore new food resources...expand new sources of feed protein, and promote the application of microbial protein."
